Sam Glanzman Dell Combat #10; 32 page original art collection
In the early nineties, my (now-ex) partner Chris was on an east coast convention run and he ran into a guy named John Chilly who showed him some originals from Dell, for whom he once worked. After hours, Chris went to his house and saw an amazing sight – a mountain of original art, paintings from Dell Paperback covers, (some by Mr Chilly), some 16-mm films, a Beatles fan magazine pasted up and ready for the camera. The amazing thing is that most of the comic art consisted of complete books, or nearly complete. We bought it all. We wondered why he had no covers, and some books were not complete, so we surmised that we were not the first to have access. So I have just a few packages left, and this is one of them, but it may be sold soon, but I’ll always have this to view and enjoy.
Here’s Combat #10 by Dell Comics, 1964. We have pgs 1-27 and 29-32, with a short text piece about Patton on pg 28. (Many Dells had a very short text-only piece on page 28, and many of them were missing from the collections, but not here.)
